PHILOSOPHIES

The Force

The living Force is generated by all living things. It surrounds and interconnects all things in a symbiotic relationship that tends towards equilibrium. Death and destruction are as much a part of the cycle as birth and creation.

P-Gin (Meditative Jedi)

The Force is a natural resource that should be exploited. The galaxy has become too complex for "nature" to keep things in suitable equilibrium. A user of the Force must learn to manipulate their environment in order to achieve a new equilibrium with technology and society.

P-Gin is rather quiet and meditative. He tends to speak in Jedi clichés. He is more open and accepting than Rash, and is inclined towards being friends with everyone. He is, however, very manipulative; P-Gin attempts to subtly control every situation he is in. He is not above "breaking the rules" in order to do so. He is quite adept at a number of flashy "visual" Jedi abilities, such as telekinesis and making his hand glow. P-Gin's philosophy of the force renders him more an active user of the force than a passive vehicle for it. He does not like using the lightsabre because it is not a subtle tool; He would rather manipulate and use people than kill them. Conflict is a waste of resources, because it usually leads to destruction. It should be noted, however, that P-Gin is NOT ambitious. His interest is in exploring and enhancing his knowledge of the force and what it can do. He has no special desire become a member of the Jedi Council, Emperor, or any such position of power.

"Master your environment, and control your opponent."

Rash (Headstrong Jedi)

Go with the flow. The Force instructs those who listen how best to restore things to balance. Feelings before thought.

Comes across as rather impulsive. He is a little bit arrogant, and relatively quick to anger. He doesn't like to loose, especially in an area that he feels is part of his expertise. Rash is very good at using the lightsabre, which he feels is a very important symbol for the Jedi Knights. He is very physical, and does not demonstrate very many "visual" force abilities. He does, however, have a strong unconscious connection to the living force that often manifests itself as "hunches" or premonitions of the future. Unfortunately, Rash is not yet wise enough to be fully aware of his own precognition.

"Death is as much a part of the natural cycle as birth. We've disrupted their natural equilibrium simply by being here; All I've done set things back to the way they were."

Ful Crum (Pilot)

Fate can be cruel. He feels that the Jedi, despite all of their good intentions, spend too much time thinking of philosophies that won't be practical in the "real world." In the end philosophies won't matter; what you do with the force will.

The sarcastic rogue. Crum feels a little bit bitter about his past. He was recruited by the Jedi Council too late for Jedi training, but the Council felt that he needed to be observed so that his powers wouldn't manifest in other ways. He would rather haul cargo for the Council than have to deal with Jedi and be constantly reminded of what "could have been." He does not, however, regard the Council with ill will, because he knows that he has a better life and education than he ever would have received "back home." Crum is very practical and has a lot of knowledge about everyday technologies and things that the "isolated" Jedi do not. Crum is the Jedi's liaison with the "real world."

SCRIPT

Scene 1: StarWars Intro

The scene opens with "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away..." Fades replaced with "StarWars" displayed in the centre of the screen; the works slowly shrinks. "StarWars" fades and text starts appearing from the bottom of the screen.

Episode 0.1: Balance

The golden age of the Galactic Republic has come to an end. Peace, prosperity, and technological innovation have led to a period of unprecedented growth and expansion. Already groups such as the Trade Federation, and other more sinister forces, have moved to take advantage of the Republic's overburdened bureaucracy.

The Jedi Council, administers of galactic justice, are likewise strained by the need to maintain peace over an increasingly complex and chaotic galaxy. Within the ranks of the Jedi Knights, different schools of thought compete over how best to restore order and balance to the living force.

It is during this period of strife and discord that two Padawan learners, neophytes in the living force, are returned to Coruscant to continue their training without the distractions of the outside world. However, in a far-flung corner of the galaxy, destiny has chosen them another fate...

It is a time of galactic peace. The Jedi council continues to impress upon the worlds within the Republic. Yet despite all their good intentions, the Jedi's services are continually needed though out the galactic world.

In the busy time two Jedi masters send their Padewans back to the Jedi council to have their training continue without the distractions of the outside world. The services of Ful Crum, a pilot for the Jedi council were sent for to escort the P-Gin and Rash back.

With the recent problems with the local government the two Padewans were finally looking forward to the easy life back on Coruscant at Jedi headquarters...

Words fade and the screen shifts down showing a ship in peril rapidly descending down towards a green planet.

Scene end.

Scene 2: Crashing

The set is the cockpit of the distressed ship. P-Gin and Crum are sitting at the controls. The control panel is full of lights flashing but generally quite dark. P-Gin sits in the co-pilot seat calmly but quickly is flicking switches, turning knobs, and pushing buttons. Crum is a little more frantic, with a worried look on his face he races over the controls pushing buttons, flicking switches, and reconnecting wires that were pulled out of the control panel. An alarm in sounded above the two or three alarms that already are going off. P-Gin quietly continues his activity while Crum noisily mumbles through his.

The cockpit doors noisily opens producing Rash. Appearing frantic, Rash quickly rushes in and hovers over the only two seats in the cockpit.

Rash: (ecstatic and loud) "What's going on? I thought you said this ship was in perfect condition!"

Crum: (defensive and louder) "Oh ya, that's right! As soon as things start going wrong, blame the pilot!"

P-Gin: (quiet and calm) "Lost another energy cell."

Crum: (sarcastically) "Great!!" (spoken scoundrel-ly) "I gotta fix this before we have no power. The council would never forgive me if I lost you two now." (turns to Rash) "Sit here but don't touch anything, I'm going to see if I can manually get this bucket of bolts back up and running."

Crum Stands and quickly rushes out of the cockpit. Rash sits down, studies the controls and then begins slowly to use the controls. P-Gin continues to calmly adjust switches and knobs.

Rash: (suggestively with a smile) "Talk about bad timing! I told you this was too good to be true, just when the council finally gave us a bit of free time to pursue our own interest..."

P-Gin gives Rash a blank look and then goes back to his control panel.

Rash: "Come on P-Gin!!"

P-Gin: (calm and relaxed) "A little adventure never hurt anyone."

Rash: (disturbed) "Somehow I never felt crashing into a planet constitutes adventure."

P-Gin: (sideways glance, no emotion) "Can't you feel it? The force is drawing us down to the planet."

Rash: (roles his eyes) "Not this again!" ("I've told him this a million times") "Listen, I believe the Force is everywhere, but that does not mean things don't happen by chance!"

Through the door is heard Crum.

Crum: (excitedly to shear panic to a mumble) "Okay!! I got it!!" (sound of engine powering down) "No!!!! That should have worked!! Come on baby, show me the problem."

P-Gin: (calm and quiet) "Hang on."

Rash turns in his seat and yells through the cockpit door.

Rash: (a little panicked) "Better get up here Crum!!"

Cockpit fades showing the ship racing towards the planet just as the ship starts burning up from the entry into the atmosphere.

Scene end.

Scene 3: Landed

A quick shot with the ship landing forcefully in a forested field. Scene shifts to cockpit. Crum and P-Gin are sitting in the two seats, the two of them start pushing buttons and flicking switches turning off all the little lights. Rash walks through the open door and leans on the back of the seats.

Rash: (mater-a-fact-ly) "Well!! We're alive!" (gazes outside to the forest) "And it doesn't look half bad out there. I'm going to go scout around for a bit, you guys figure out what's wrong and how to fix it."

Crum: (pure frustration) "We got no power that's what wrong. I just used our last bit to landing this crate. We're not going anywhere until we find a way to get this baby juiced up."

In frustration, Crum pushes the last of the controls away and stands up and sulks passed Rash.

P-Gin: (calm) "Come on Crum, you where taught by the Jedi. 'Don't let anger control your emotions.'"

Crum looks at P-Gin and walks out.

Rash: (in discussed, spoken a little louder than necessary, very racial against Crum) "What are you teaching him for? He failed once already, the only reason he's still working for the council is 'cause they need to keep an eye on him."

P-Gin: (calmly) "The force is bigger than that Rash and you know that. We are all treading on very dangerous ground here and talking down to Crum proves nothing. He may have failed to become a Pandwan but he is probably our best ticket off this world."

Rash: (as if teaching) "And now you want to leave?!? I thought the Force was guiding you here? (in jest) Don't forget buddy, we're the good guys, the Force work around us for the good of those that use it properly."

Rash turns and leaves. P-Gin continues to gaze out of the cockpit into the forest.

Scene end.

Scene 4: What are we going to do?

The landing gear of the ship. Rash comes walking back from the forest completely robed like a Jedi with lightsabre in hand. Crum kneeling down near the bottom of the platform fooling around with the electronics of the "battery charger". P-Gin walks down the platform also robed as a Jedi. The smoke from the landing struts on the gangplank sweeps through the entire area.

Rash: (a little disappointed) "There's life everywhere here but nothing big enough to cause us harm."

Rash buckles up his lightsabre and swats at a bug.

Crum: (take charge attitude) "Okay, down to business." (Crum stands up and addresses the Jedi) "I've tracked down an energy source about a days walk from here. I'm confident that with this "charger" we can fill up the fuel cells of the ship and fly out of here."

Rash: (big brother to scum) "Yes sir!" (sarcastically) "Listen Crum! I detected no immediate threat nearby, but I can't guarantee your safety if we set out on foot."

Crum: (ticked off) "And suddenly your responsible for my safety?!?" (defensive) "The Jedi council trusts me to protect you guys. Just 'cause I'm no Jedi..."

Rash: (pure arrogance) "Damn right no Jedi, Crum!!" (arrogant) "If things start going wrong we'll see who protects whom!! But if we go out there you're on your own."

P-Gin: (unbelieving) "He's right Rash. He's not the one who is going to need protection. Can't you feel it?? This is pure Energy!! The Force magnified!! It's almost real."

P-Gin holds out his hand as if he is waving his hand through a dense fog of energy. For a brief moment his hand glows blue then disappears. Rash and Crum stop their argument and both look and are stunned by the discovery that P-Gin has made.

Crum: (amazed) "Almost real?!?"

Rash holds out his hands in front of him as if gathering up the energy of the Force.

Rash: (amazed) "I never realized it 'til now!" (excitedly) "Yes!!! The power of the Force is much greater here. Much greater!!"

Scene end.

Scene 5: Montage

Scene consists of a 30 second montage of the group walking through the wilderness. P-Gin and Crum carry the "charger" and Rash shoulders the backpack. Group walk constantly from left to right.

Crossing a stream.

Lifting the "battery charger" up a small cliff with the help of Rash.

Jumping off logs.

The montage ends with a sunset scene of single-frame-rush. Showing the sun setting, clouds moving, until darkness covers the land.

Scene end.

Scene 6: Upon the Light of the Fire

Crum and P-Gin are sitting around a small campfire; Rash is anxiously pacing behind them. Crum is searching around the backpack trying to ignoring P-Gin and Rash. P-Gin holds out his hand and waves it back and forth as if feeling a resistance in the air.

P-Gin: (still unbelieving) "The force is even stronger here than back at the ship. It feels so thick; I feel like I'm swimming it it."

Crum: (distracted) "Be careful you don't drown! Now, where's my ..." (trails off as he continues to search the backpack.)

Rash: (excited) "It's so exhilarating!"

............. to be continued?

Get bothered by CGI bugs - until Rash kills the bugs with the force (the bugs leave Crum alone). Force discussion concerning balance. Crum temporarily leaves camp, the Jedi have a lightsabre practice that goes too far (the force discussion should continue into the lightsabre practice). Crum comes back and shoots a tree stopping the battle - the Jedi realize that they have gone too far.

Scene end.

Scene 7: Alien Power Source

There is a well near ruins, the well is make of bricks and the ruins are spray rocked cardboard and wood. There is also a CGI staircase that leads down. The "battery" case is placed on the top of the stairs and Crum looks down into the ruins and says, "Looks like a tight fit, I know what I'm doing so you guys stay up here." P-Gin and Rash stay back and talk about something. When Crum is gone the alien "shows" up and begins corrupting the Jedi. Lightsabre battle begins leading up to P-Gin's death. Crum comes back just in time to see Rash being eaten by the alien. Alien tries to lure Crum to the well. Crum sees the lightsabres near the well and sends T0Y ahead of him and when the alien rushes out of the well, Crum somersaults away allowing T0Y to be destroyed, grabs lightsabre, turns on and throws into well.
